Transferable skills are a set of skills that you’re good at. You can build them up over time, through work, volunteering, education and life. You can apply these skills to a range of jobs.
Every Carer has learnt a valuable set of skills which can be transferred to many different job roles, particularly in the Health & Social sector. You have gained those skills from your life experience and also from your caring role.
In the image below you can see a list of transferable skills that you may have as a Carer. This list can help you to identify the skills you already have, or the skills you would like to work towards.
A skills assessment can be helpful at any stage of your career, from starting your career, returning to work or progressing your career.
You may want to take an assessment to help you:
find out what interests and motivates you
identify your skills
find out what you can do with the skills you have
